In the 1990s, the reboot of The Mickey Mouse Club became a platform for several major stars today.
Originally airing on ABC from 1955 to 1959, the hit show transitioned to Disney Channel in the 1990s and featured celebrities like Justin Timberlake and Keri Russell, acting, singing and dancing, ultimately preparing them for their longstanding careers in the entertainment industry.

For Ryan Gosling, born in Ontario, Canada, getting his start as a star ofThe All-New Mickey Mouse Clubat age 13 was one of his biggest wins in life.
“Probably the first [Hail Mary] was when I auditioned for the Mickey Mouse Club when I was a kid,” the actor-producer told PEOPLE back in March. “I’m from a small town where that sort of thing doesn’t — it hadn’t happened to anyone I knew and felt impossible.”
Inspired to perform after joining his uncle, an Elvis Presley impersonator, onstage, the Project Hail Mary star, now 45, shared that booking the role and filming in Orlando, Fla. from 1993 to 1995 was just about the unlikeliest path for a kid like him.
“The girls in my dance class were going to audition and I thought, ‘What do I have to lose?’” he said. “And it changed my life.”

Britney Spears starred on the show from 1993 to 1996 alongside several fellow stars-to-be and looks back on her time on the show fondly. In her memoir The Woman in Me, the pop superstar, now 44, has described being in the show as a “boot camp for the entertainment industry.”
“Being in the show was boot camp for the entertainment industry: extensive dance rehearsals, singing lessons, acting classes, time in the recording studio, and school in between,” wrote Spears of the experience.
The “Toxic” singer also shared that working on the show“was honestly a kid’s dream — unbelievably fun, particularly for a kid like me. But it was also exceptionally hard work: we would run choreography thirty times in a day, trying to get every step perfect.”

Before captivating the world with her powerhouse vocals, Christina Aguilera got her start performing on the 90s show. The “Genie in a Bottle” singer, 45, did a brief stint on the series, joining the cast from 1993 to 1994.

On the series, Aguilera sang and acted in sketches alongside her fellow budding celebrities. The vocalist even shared a dressing room with Spears during their time on the show together.
“The Mouseketeers quickly split into our own cliques, divided by the dressing rooms that we shared: Christina Aguilera and I were the younger kids, and we shared a dressing room,” Spears wrote in her memoir.

Timberlake was also a prominent member of the MMC crew. The former *NSYNC bandmate, now 45, starred on the show from 1993 to 1994, showing off his talents on the hit show.
In her memoir, Spears wrote about her time interacting with Timberlake during their days on set together, sharing a glimpse into their sweet connection. “We looked up to the older kids – Keri Russell, Ryan Gosling, and Tony Lucca, who I thought was so handsome. And I quickly connected with a boy named Justin Timberlake,” she wrote.
“[Once] at a sleepover, we played Truth or Dare, and someone dared Justin to kiss me,” Spears continued. “A Janet Jackson song was playing in the background as he leaned in and kissed me.”

Russell appeared on the series for eight seasons, maintaining several long-term friendships from her time on the series. The Diplomat actress, now 50, previously spoke with W Magazineabout her time on the show where she crossed paths with several of the powerhouse costars.
“Some of those people are still my best friends—Ilana [Miller] and Lindsey [Alley]. I was there at a time when there were a lot of famous kids there,” she said. “And I say this completely truthfully: I was literally the least talented one there. I’m not kidding. When I look at those kids, I’m like, why in the world did they pick me? Christina Aguilera and Justin Timberlake and Ryan Gosling and Britney Spears. It was wild.”
Reflecting on her time on the show, the actress shared she’s happy to have left the show with her “sanity [and] my dignity.”
She added, “Not everyone got out alive.”
