Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Daisy Kelliher shared that she underwent surgery for a “really bad deviated septum”
The Bravo star said she broke her nose while sailing as a child, which might have caused it
She said she wanted to be “transparent” and shared a photo from each day of her recovery until she had her cast removed
Below Deck Sailing Yacht star Daisy Kelliher revealed that she recently underwent surgery for a “really bad deviated septum” likely caused by an accident she had as a child.
“Did reality tv- gave you my life so decided to share all of it- the good, the bad, the honesty,” the chief stewardess, 38, shared in an Instagram post on Feb. 17, where she shared a carousel of pics that documented each day of recovery.
As she explained, “I had a really bad deviated septum which is looking really good (I broke my nose sailing when I was about ten- could have been this). And my breathing should be so much better too.”
On the first day — her surgery day — Kelliher posted a photo of her bandaged nose with tubes coming out of her nostrils, and joked, “My hair is the most mental looking thing of this pic.” The second day, however, was “the day I had the most pain,” as Kelliher shared a shot of herself lying in bed with an ice pack on her forehead.
By day three, she was back to joking around, and shared a photo of herself, albeit swollen in what she dubbed “full chipmunk mode,” while smiling in the car. “I felt so fine I went to dinner looking like this,” she quipped.
On the eighth day, Kelliher had the cast removed, and realized the “Swelling is bad.” She described the day as “emotional” as she realized “the healing journey I’m about to embark on.”
A deviated septum occurs when your septum, “the cartilage and bone that separates your nasal cavity, is off-center,” Cleveland Clinic explains. It can cause breathing problems and headaches. Some people are born with it, and others, like Kelliher, sustain an injury that causes it.
As she explained, “I had a really bad deviated septum which is looking really good (I broke my nose sailing when I was about ten- could have been this). And my breathing should be so much better too.”
She continued, “My stitches have healed really nicely and the swelling is apparently going to be a JOURNEY! I wanted NATURAL and kept saying this lol. Very early doors but wanted to be transparent and honest. Looking forward to the final result which will be in about a year 😂. I don’t expect anyone else to notice just me 💁♀️ loved all the support. You guys are the best ❤️”

Kelliher thanked her fellow Below Deck colleague Alli Dore, among others, who were on hand to “support me,” sharing “I had a really easy/ smooth recovery.”
She later shared more details in her Instagram stories, explaining that her decision was largely a cosmetic one, although she did struggle with breathing. "I just hated, like, how crooked it was," she said. "The medical [reason] just was a plus."
She engaged with her commenters — especially ones who shared that they had been considering the same surgery. “Thank you for being so transparent,” shared one fan. “I have been wanting to do this for YEARS! Now, I will!!! 🙌 I too, have a deviated septum but I have been too scared to do this. Cheers to breathing easier! 🥂”
