Ben Affleck Almost Got Set Up With This Surprising A-Lister After Jennifer Lopez Split

During the September 28 episode of The View, Ana Navarro revealed that she wanted Ben Affleck and Shakira to date.

Navarro shared that the thought came to mind after seeing Shakira in concert, which Matt Damon also attended with his family.

“It had just come out that J.Lo and Ben Affleck were breaking up. And Shakira had broken up with her husband,” Navarro explained.

TV personality Ana Navarro recently revealed that she once tried to play matchmaker for a surprising A-list actor and singer: Ben Affleck and Shakira.

During the September 28 episode of The View, the 54-year-old co-host revealed that she tried to “set him up” after his divorce from Jennifer Lopez—and wanted to enlist Matt Damon’s help.

“I’ve never met Ben Affleck. I’m a huge fan, but I’ve never met him,” Navarro began. “But I tried to set him up once.”

She continued, “I was at a Shakira concert in Miami, and Matt Damon was there with his wife and his girls. And Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are best friends. And it had just come out that J.Lo and Ben Affleck were breaking up. And Shakira had broken up with her husband.”

Sunny Hostin then chimed in and asked, “You were trying to hook up Ben Affleck and Shakira?”

“I love it!” Navarro replied.

Alyssa Farah Griffin added, “I think she’s friends with J. Lo. They did that iconic performance together.” Shakira and Lopez co-headlined the 2020 Super Bowl halftime performance in Miami.

“Matt Damon said that could be complicated,” Navarro said, referring to the two singers’ friendship. “But now enough time has passed where I think Ben Affleck needs to give Shakira [a call], and Shakira needs to give Ben Affleck [a call].”

Griffin slightly pushed back on the potential matchmaking, saying, “I love Ben Affleck. I want better for Shakira, though. From a dating standpoint, he seems a little messy in relationships.”

Whoopi Goldberg then jumped in to defend Affleck.

“Well, none of us know,” she said, “‘cause we only know what’s happening in our backyards. So we don’t know what happens in relationships. You know, when you read stuff in the newspaper, or you read stuff online… you never [know].”

But Navarro doubled down on her idea and began brainstorming their couple name. “Do you guys like BenSha?”

“I think I do like it,” Hostin said.

“I think you should leave it alone,” Goldberg quipped.
