The name Clive Davis will go down in history as one of modern music's biggest moguls, who helped propel names like Bruce Springsteen, Whitney Houston and Alicia Keys into stardom. On Monday, it was announced that he had died in his New York City home at the age of 94.
He had so many jobs, from chief creative officer at Sony Music Entertainment to running Arista Records, J Records and Columbia. So what was the cause of death for the man with an absolutely legendary career? Per multiple reports including the Hollywood Reporter, "He recently had been hospitalized with an upper respiratory infection." That wasn't necessarily cited as the cause.

His death was confirmed by his longtime rep Aliza Rabinoff, who added in a statement that he "passed away peacefully from age-related illness … surrounded by his family and loved ones." Davis had faced several health issues in recent years. In late May, he was hospitalized in New York City following an upper respiratory issue. He was released a few days later, with a rep saying at the time that the music mogul was "in good spirits and happy to be recuperating at home."
