Mark your calendars, Jim Henson fans. Wowsabout, a vibrant new special, is headed to PBS KIDS on May 1, and it’s one families will want on their radar.

Notably, it’s the first original Henson puppet series to debut on PBS Kids since Sesame Street and it brings that same signature magic to a whole new generation.

Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Sequoia National Park and filmed on location, the 22-minute preschool special introduces a pair of instantly lovable puppet explorers: Roxy, a free-spirited dreamer, and Ronald, a meticulous, rule-following junior ranger-in-training.

Together, the unlikely duo embarks on a heartfelt and hilarious journey to discover the park’s legendary "magical giants"—and along the way, they uncover something even more powerful: the joy of awe.

Created by Emmy-winning storyteller Halle Stanford and puppeteer-writer Dorien Davies, Wowsabout is more than just an adventure—it’s rooted in real science. Drawing on the work of emotion expert Dacher Keltner, the special helps young viewers recognize and embrace awe through nature, music, storytelling, and friendship.

The goal is to drive inspire curiosity, creativity, kindness, and a deeper connection to the world. With its blend of humor, heart, and stunning natural scenery, Wowsabout will invite kids and families alike to notice the "wows" in everyday life (and maybe even start their own adventures).

After its debut on May 1, the special will be available to stream for free, making it easy to revisit the magic again and again.
