Former NFL player, league rebuke DHS video about border security

The NFL has asked the Department of Homeland Security to remove a video posted by the agency Sunday, Sept. 27 at 6:38 p.m. ET that featured highlights of former Philadelphia Eagles safety Brian Dawkins in response to a social-media post suggesting a migrant caravan moving toward the United States’ southern border.
DHS posted a video of Dawkins’ highlights with metal rock music playing in the background. The post was captioned "our time has come."
"The league requested DHS take down the video," NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy told USA TODAY Sports.
Additionally, DHS posted a photo of Dawkins crawling on the turn during pregame introductions with the caption "The Border Is Closed." DHS told Front Office Sports "DHS is playing lockdown defense at the border."

Dawkins, in a video posted on social media Sept. 28, decried the government’s use of his “name, image and likeness.”
"Hello blessed people, hello blessed people," Dawkins said in the video. "All right, let’s be clear. I didn't give permission for my name, image and likeness to be used by anybody – by anybody. All right? Take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. Y'all be blessed."
Dawkins played 16 seasons in the NFL, 13 of them with Philadelphia. The Hall of Famer and four-time first-team All-Pro – known for patrolling the middle of the field – retired following the 2011 campaign.
