Frankie Grande shared his support for sister Ariana Grande following her hiatus announcement

“I am so proud of you and so happy for you,” he wrote in an Instagram post shared on Friday, Aug. 7

A rep exclusively confirmed to PEOPLE on Aug. 2 that Ariana would be “taking a step back from visibility” after her tour wraps on Sept. 1

Frankie Grande is standing by his sister Ariana Grande’s side.

In a Friday, Aug. 7 Instagram post, the dancer and actor, who is Ariana’s half-brother through mom Joan Grande, offered his support for the pop megastar after she shared that she would be going on hiatus.

Frankie, 43, shared video footage of Ariana, 33, performing “One Last Time” during her Eternal Sunshine tour show at the United Center in Chicago on Thursday, Aug. 6, along with a sweet message.

“Family forever,” he captioned the post. “I will have your back until the end of time. I am so proud of you and so happy for you.”

Frankie continued, “Last night was a beautiful celebration of your artistry and the magnificent eternal sunshine family you have built and created. It was a magical night. You are magical. You are my everything and I am so so happy I was there to see you shine on this tour one last time.”

On Aug. 2, PEOPLE confirmed exclusively that the “hate that i made you love me” artist plans to “step back” from the public eye after her Eternal Sunshine Tour ends on Sept. 1.

A source close to Grande said the situation is “deeply personal.”

During her Monday, Aug. 3 tour stop in Chicago, she directly addressed her decision to take a break, telling the sold-out crowd that it “was not a reactive or impulsive thing” but rather a plan she made “quietly, a long time ago.”

The decision comes amid the escalation of public concern surrounding her health. It was revealed that Grande will no longer be joining the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George, set to open next summer in London.

Another source who has known Grande for years told PEOPLE that “stepping away” from the show is “a sign that she’s prepared to step away from the spotlight and focus on herself.”

The source added: “She does have people around her supporting her in slowing down.”

Grande has increasingly faced public concern about her physical appearance and overall well-being in recent years during her Wicked: For Good press tour in 2025 and again when she launched her Eternal Sunshine Tour in Oakland, Calif. on June 6.

There was an uptick in commentary upon the release of her “Petal” music video on July 31, in which she attends multiple auditions and receives harsh criticism like, “couldn’t hurt to lose a few lbs.” and “should get some work done,” from casting directors before getting her revenge.

A third Grande insider told PEOPLE that the three-time Grammy winner “has always been in control.”

“It’s her career, and she makes the rules. Every artistic choice, schedule, she has final say,” the third Grande source told PEOPLE. “She’s open about having been in therapy before [helping her through dark times]. She is also full of joy, energy and professionalism.”

At the time, a rep for Grande did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

In July, a source confirmed Grande would no longer appear in season 13 of American Horror Story because production dates shifted to the summer, when she was already on tour.

Ryan Murphy addressed her departure in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on Aug. 6, saying that Grande’s exit “was really, truly a scheduling conflict.”
