Jiang Xiaorou, a Chinese influencer, reportedly died on Monday, Aug. 10, a month after she was involved in a serious car accident. She was 24.
The content creator — who had over 1.5 million followers on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok — was admitted to the intensive care unit on July 15 after an incident involving a rideshare taken between the Chinese cities Liuzhou and Guangzhou, per The Epoch Times and HK01.
In a message shared to the creator’s Douyin account on Tuesday, Aug. 11, and posted in full by HK01, Xiaorou’s family confirmed that she had died and slammed “unverified discussions” surrounding her death.
“Here, her family and friends earnestly request everyone: respect the facts, refrain from spreading unverified information, do not forward content involving privacy, and please stop making excessive speculations about her and her family,” the message said, per HK01. “For those who wish to express their condolences, please let your concern be expressed as a quiet blessing, so that she may remain dignified and respectable in everyone’s memory.”

The family added, “Thank you again for your support of Jiang Xiaorou. May she rest in peace, and please allow her friends the necessary privacy.”

Xiaorou was known on Douyin for her paranormal investigations, visiting ruins and challenging various superstitions. Her final video before her car accident, posted on July 9, saw her making phone calls to numbers suggested by her fans, per The Epoch Times.

In August 2025, the creator had also drawn controversy for a video in which she smashed a clay Guanyin statue, a Buddhist religious object, with a hammer. In the clip, she told her followers, “Let’s see how long I can live,” per The Epoch Times, HK01 and The Tab.
Per the outlets, she did it as part of an anti-superstition stunt.
