House of the Dragon Season 3 finale reveals how many dragons are left
The House of the Dragon Season 3 finale significantly reshapes the dragon count heading into the final season.
Team Green currently controls four dragons entering Season 4. Vhagar remains bonded to Aemond Targaryen, while Sunfyre flies with the resurrected Aegon. Silverwing now serves the traitorous Ulf the White, and Tessarion stays with Daeron Targaryen. However, both Ulf and Daeron lack true loyalty to Team Green after the Battle of Tumbleton.
Team Black holds six dragons but faces growing instability. Rhaenyra rides Syrax, Daemon commands Caraxes, and Baela flies Moondancer. Additionally, Addam of Hull rides Seasmoke, while Hugh Hammer controls Vermithor. Joffrey Velaryon technically claims Tyraxes, but the dragon remains too small for battle. Meanwhile, Sheepstealer belongs to Rhaena Targaryen without any faction allegiance. Dreamfyre also remains riderless following Helaena Targaryen’s tragic death.

Why Ulf the White or Silverwing might die in House of the Dragon 4
Ulf’s betrayal at Tumbleton positions him as a prime target for elimination next season. He turned against Team Black after Rhaenyra and Daemon’s harsh treatment pushed him toward treachery. Still, Ulf showed no genuine loyalty to Ormund Hightower either, burning him alongside innocent civilians.
His reckless nature makes Silverwing’s survival equally uncertain going forward. Ulf cares more about wealth and prestige than actually serving any ruler on dragonback. He arrived drunk and late to the Battle of Tumbleton, demonstrating dangerous unreliability as a dragonrider. Neither Team Black nor Team Green can trust him, making him a liability both sides might target.
The Season 3 finale leaves Ulf completely isolated without allies on either side. His unpredictable behavior and Silverwing’s devastating power make them a threat everyone wants eliminated before the war ends.
