Jane Fonda and Celine Dion embrace the catwalk at L’Oreal’s annual show

Paris Fashion Week is the last of the big four fashion weeks. Following the slickness of New York, the creativity of London and the polish of Milan, now it’s time for the true global heavyweights to show us the trends we will all want to wear in spring 2027.

Celine Dion gave something akin to an opening ceremony performance at Paris Fashion Week on Monday night, as she sang her 2002 hit I’m Alive at the annual L’Oréal Paris Le Défilé show.

Other celebrities including actresses Jane Fonda, Viola Davis and Andie MacDowell, and models Kendall Jenner and Cara Delevingne, each took a turn on the catwalk, before joining Dion on an open-air stage next to the Eiffel Tower for the big finale. As L’Oréal ambassadors, each was instructed to “express their worth”, a concept which resulted in (unusually for fashion week) a lot of big smiles on the catwalk.

Critics will describe the whole parade as cheesy – a warm-up act for the “real” shows that will follow in the city this week. The schedule begins here, with design houses including Saint Laurent, Chanel and Louis Vuitton slated to present their spring 2027 collections in the days to come.

Dion, most likely, will be spotted again – perhaps supporting one of her favourite labels, Schiaparelli, or Dior.
