Jon Stewart examines Donald Trump's signature on The Daily Show

- Jon Stewart had a few words of praise for Donald Trump regarding a new bill signing.

- But after giving the president credit for doing "a solid," the* Daily Show* host made fun of Trump for his unusual behavior.

- "I'm looking at that signature right now — does that even say Donald Trump?" Stewart questioned.

Jon Stewart took a new approach to his coverage of Donald Trump on the latest episode of *The Daily Show*. Or at least he tried.

The Monday night broadcast saw Stewart begin by giving "credit where credit is due," praising Trump for signing a bill that fast-tracks the FDA process for "novel psychedelic drug treatments" meant to help "veterans suffering from all forms of PTSD and other psychiatric conditions, including addiction."

But after admitting that Trump "did a solid," Stewart couldn't help but immediately begin making fun of the president for the way he signed the bill.

For one thing, footage of the signing saw Trump stumble over his pronunciation of ibogaine, a psychoactive drug used to treat substance use issues, PTSD, and depression.

Elsewhere, Trump noted that one study shows users experience "an 80 to 90 percent reduction in symptoms of depression and anxiety within one month." The president then joked, “Can I have some, please? I’ll take it. I’ll take it, whatever it takes."

Reacting to the clip, Stewart said, "Oh wow. He’s depressed, too! Hey, don’t be depressed, sir. Trump won’t be president forever."

Returning to the Oval Office footage, Trump said to a room full of aides, "I don’t have time to be depressed. If you stay busy enough, maybe that works too. That’s what I do."

Stewart, appearing alarmed, commented, "I don’t think Donald Trump should treat that with hallucinogens, but if he did, would we even notice? If he took them, he’d be like, 'They’re eating the cats and dogs! Right near my beautiful ballroom. By the way, did you know I’m Jesus?'"

Stewart then turned his attention to the way that Trump signed the bill, adding, "You know what, though? Maybe he’s already taken them, given how intensely he focused on the signing of this bill. I mean, he signed the shit out of this bill."

The show then cut back to Trump, who really took his time signing the psychedelics bill. When he was done, the president declared, "That’s a good one. See that, Joe [Rogan]? You think Biden can do that?"

The talk show host continued fixating on the signing portion of the footage, calling the way Trump signed the bill "weird as shit."

"I'm looking at that signature right now— does that even say Donald Trump?" Stewart puzzled. "The last name is longer than his first name! It doesn't look like D— it looks like it says, 'Lynyrd Skynyrd!' It doesn't make any sense!"

After replaying the clip, he exclaimed, "It's too many letters... I would make sure that this executive order is even legal because it appears to be signed off by David Hasselhoff."
