The Shards actress and her costar Homer Gere both talked about being the subjects of online fodder because of how they look during a joint cover interview for Vogueās September 2026 issue. For her part, Gerber spoke about growing up with being compared to her famous supermodel mom, Cindy Crawford, which eventually impacted her mental health.
āWeāre clearly in one of those cycles right now where people are very, very, very thin,ā the model began. āAs someone whoās been thin most of my life, Iāve always been compared against my mom ā like, Whatās wrong with Kaia?ā

āPeople are like, āYou look terrible,ā and it doesnāt exactly make you go, āOh, good. Let me get over this mental illness then!ā Negativity has never saved someoneās life.ā

In 2023, Crawford spoke with PEOPLE about how her daughter, then 21, handles fame, as well as juggling her career with her life out of the limelight, much like she did herself in the ā90s.
āI think that she kind of sees how my husband [Rande Gerber] and I have dealt with it throughout the years,ā Crawford said. āWhich is not like, we donāt ever try to, āOh, we canāt go there because we might get photographed.āā
The supermodel pointed out the added pressure with social media, but she added, āIām learning along with her about that stuff, but I feel like she seems like she has a very good head on her shoulders and is figuring out how she wants to create that private work-public balance.ā
