Have you ever wondered whether King Charles is more of a dog or a cat person? Probably not. But we’ve got the answer for you, anyway. You see, the monarch is apparently “terrified” of felines. So much so, that insiders say all animals of the murder-mittened variety are banned from the royal estates.

Charles’ fear of felines is apparently not a new thing. A royal insider told Radar Online: “Charles’ unease around cats goes back decades and has never really diminished – if anything, it has become a more fixed part of who he is. It is not something he has ever grown out of, and within royal households, it has effectively translated into an unspoken rule that cats are simply not welcome in living spaces he influences over.”

It’s not exactly clear why Charles has such a dislike of cats (their nonchalance? needle paws? a troubling commitment to biscuit production quotas?). But it’s not totally unfounded. After all, they are brazen predators – and we’re sure the King doesn’t want to be surrounded by those types.

Ex-Prince Andrew will have to rethink if he’s planning on getting a feline friend. The ban on all things kitty includes his current abode on the Sandringham estate. The source explained: “For Charles, this goes beyond a mild dislike or personal preference – there is a genuine discomfort there that shapes decisions. Because of that, the possibility of a cat being brought into Andrew’s residence is not even up for discussion; it is treated as a complete non-starter from the outset.”

Well, if the cat hatred runs that deep, Charles has a bit of explaining to do. He’s been pictured on several occasions wearing a tie featuring several figures that look suspiciously feline in nature. The mystery deepens…
