Meghan Markle may have left the U.K. six years ago amid negative headlines in the press and alleged racism from members of the royal family, but her return to England has reportedly gone much better.

The Duchess of Sussex, 45, and her husband, Prince Harry, 42, recently relocated back to his home country with their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, and enrolled them in school there as they set up a new life in the Cotswolds for an “extended period.”

Now, despite initial negative perceptions of her, even critics of her have started to “change their tune,” and even compared her favorably to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton–and the public has also reportedly warmed up to her as well.

The reveal comes from her friend, Kelly McKee Zajfen, who has referred to herself as the Duchess’ best friend, with a post on Instagram following her visit with the royals in their country home.

Sharing a series of images from the trip, which included the first to feature Markle since her move, she also hinted at the reception Markle has received since her relocation.

“Having the best time. There’s something so special about getting a taste of this magical place with my bestie, and having my sweet Jack along for the adventure,” she captioned the series of images.

“I’ve loved seeing this sweet chapter through her eyes and daily adventures! Especially getting to experience so many little firsts with Jack by my side,” she continued. “Family time is just what the heart ordered. With a side of mashed peas and fish n chips! All of it has filled my heart.”

“You’ve been so good to us. We’re leaving with full hearts and definitely leaving a piece of ours here,” she added.

She then appeared to reference the Duchess and the way that she was being seen by the people.

“To everyone we’ve met or bumped into, thank you for being so loving to my friend,” she wrote. “It’s been beautiful to witness. She missed you too!”

Among the photos were ones that included Markle, Zajfen, and friend Markus Anderson playing mahjong in a garden setting, Markle holding baby Jack while out at a restaurant, and even Harry lying on the floor inside the house with Jack by his side.

It’s the first glimpse at the life that the couple has built for themselves since their move.

The move came as a surprise in August, after Harry continually lost appeals to retain taxpayer-funded security so his wife and children could return to the UK on visits with him.

While Harry had been back at times since the couple departed the UK, both for high-profile events like his father’s coronation and various court cases, Meghan had not returned until a family trip to the UK weeks before the move was announced.

The move was said to have delighted King Charles, who was eager to build a relationship with his grandchildren, and to have blindsided Harry’s brother, Prince William, whom he has been estranged from.
