Melania Trump's "problem" was exposed by a political commentator after she made a series of "incredible" claims about her husband, President Donald Trump.

One of the features of Trump's second term in the White House is the seemingly separate lives the President and the First Lady seem to be living. Melania splits her time primarily between Florida and New York, maintaining a reduced physical presence at the White House than is common for first ladies such as Michelle Obama and Jill Biden.

It has also been reported that the couple sleep apart when they are in the same physical space. Another feature of Trump's presidency is his seemingly light schedule compared to some of his predecessors. He has a large amount of unspecified 'executive time' while his first meeting often isn't until 11am.

It is against this backdrop that Melania painted a bemusing portrait of her husband during a rare interview.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends, she said: "He's very focused, he has a lot on his plate. I think he's doing the best he can, he works non-stop, he has the most energy of anybody. He's from morning til evening, he's non-stop working."

Political commentator David Pakman called the description "extraordinary," suggesting that there must be another Donald Trump out there that no-one has ever seen. He also opened up on the elephant in the room - how would Melania know that her husband is working hard when they apparently spend so much time apart?

Speaking on his YouTube channel, David said: "I think the funniest question is something that is unsaid. How would Melania know that Trump is working from morning until evening. Melania is very independent from Donald Trump, compared to other first ladies.

"In fact, we have reason to believe she's completely estranged from Donald Trump. It seems as though they are mostly living separately. They have separate bedrooms, when they're even in the same building.

"She could have detailed knowledge of his schedule, and maybe she's looking at his calendar. But she's basically estranged from Trump, so how would she know how hard and how many hours he's working?"

David also disputed her claims about Trump's apparent work ethic. He pointed to the president's schedule, which is publicly available, for evidence that he isn't working from non-stop morning until night.

On some recent days, Trump has taken his first meeting at 11am before breaking for lunch at noon. As David rightly points out, however, not all the president's work is done when the cameras are rolling. But despite this, he struggles to believe the picture Melania paints of her husband.

He said: "I would argue the most important work president's do is when there aren't cameras there. But this idea of Trump as a human perpetual motion device, morning to evening, non-stop.

"We've covered the golfing, we've covered the 12-5 schedule, and during that schedule he's often falling asleep in public. We've covered all of the time Trump spends watching TV, and we've also covered the increased frequency with which Donald Trump is falling asleep.

"So Melania Trump's description is incredible, that Trump is so relentlessly working, that I guess he has to catch up on sleep during work."
