Nicole Kidman told British Vogue that her love of beauty began by going to trans clubs, where she learned how to do her hair and makeup

“I would sit down as a little freckled-faced red-headed girl and they would make me beautiful,” the actress recalled

Kidman also opened up about her daughters Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret’s growing interest in fashion

Nicole Kidman is sharing the origins of her love for beauty and fashion.

The actress, 60, opened up to British Vogueabout learning how to do hair and makeup by going to trans nightclubs.

“I’ve said it before but I used to go to trans clubs,” she said in the cover interview published on Thursday, Aug. 13. “That’s where I learnt to do my hair and makeup. I would sit down as a little freckled-faced red-headed girl and they would make me beautiful.”

Kidman continued, “They would do my lashes and straighten my hair and put hairpieces on me and makeup. I would walk out of there and I would feel pretty. I would feel like I was transformed.”

The Oscar winner concluded that that’s where her interest in clothes and makeup “all started.”

Kidman has instilled her love of fashion in her daughters, Sunday Rose, 18, and Faith Margaret, 15.

“[Sunday] is so her own creature. She has such a strong sense of identity and what she loves,” the star told the outlet. “She’s very European in her style. She’s very visual. She takes photographs and she makes films and she’s highly creative with that.”

In October 2024, Sunday made her runway debut at Miu Miu’s spring/summer 2025 Paris Fashion Week show. She graced the catwalk in a sleeveless white dress with black knee socks and open-toe pumps.

She walked for the fashion house again during Paris Fashion Week in March 2025.

In a TikTok video for Vogue, the model said that the halls of her high school serve as practice space for her runway walks. “Whenever I’m walking down the hallway, I feel like I’m strutting down to math class,” she said. “Everybody will be like, ‘I see you’re doing your runway walk.’”

Sunday Rose also shared that while it was only her second walk, she was “just hoping to bring a lot of personality” and that “Ms. Prada” (presumably Miuccia Prada, the head designer of Prada and founder of its subsidiary, Miu Miu), gave her some tips after her debut.

Speaking with British Vogue, Kidman added that her younger daughter is also developing an interest in fashion.

“And then the little one, even though she’s not little, just did the Vogue school and loved it. She has what I call the ‘Bessette’ style,” the actress shared. “They’re both very different though they look very similar.”
