Pete Davidson revealed he suffered two concussions while working on an indie film
The comedian said his stunt double was visibly taller and larger, so he chose to perform the scenes himself prior to his injury
The SNL alum wore sunglasses on Jimmy Kimmel Live! because he must avoid bright lights until mid-November
Pete Davidson is opening up about the injury he suffered recently while filming a movie.
On Sept. 28, the former Saturday Night Live comedian, 32, made an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! and shared the medical reason why he was wearing sunglasses during the interview.
“I got two concussions inside three weeks. Not good at all,” he revealed, before explaining how he got injured. “Well, I’m an idiot and I tried to do my own stunts.”
Jimmy Kimmel, 58, then questioned why Davidson didn’t rely on stunt doubles. He said he had the option to, but knew that the film wouldn’t look great.
“It was an indie movie. And indie movie stunt doubles and big movie stunt doubles do not look the same,” he said. “My stunt double, he was amazing, but he was like 6’6, huge and it was very obvious.”

Davidson said he ultimately went to see a doctor to determine how severe the concussion was. He joked about failing a concussion test, admitting that “it’s pretty embarrassing.”
“It’s a doctor and he just goes, ‘Mop, mirror, blanket, picnic.’ He says like eight words and I go, ‘What the hell is he doing?’ And then he goes, ‘Say it back.’ And I was like, ‘Um…’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, you have some brain damage,’ ” he recalled. “It’s a very simple test.”

Davidson said that he now has to avoid bright lights until mid-November and is wearing the sunglasses to help. Kimmel then said he’s sorry that the comedian’s dealing with the injury.
“I’m more sorry I didn’t really notice a difference,” Davidson quipped.
