Presley Gerber seemed to be in a positive place a few months before his death after seeking treatment for addiction.

The only son of supermodel Cindy Crawford and businessman Rande Gerber, and the brother of model and actress Kaia Gerber died at a rehabilitation facility on Sunday, Sept. 20, according to Los Angeles County Medical Examiner records reviewed by **. He was 27.

Presley was open about his yearslong struggles with mental health and addiction, and spoke about undergoing treatment in one of his final Instagram posts on March 26.

“Pre Ibogaine Flood Dose - quiet moment before everything changed,” he captioned a video of himself in a tropical setting before receiving the treatment. According to Stanford Medicine, ibogaine is a plant-based psychoactive drug that comes from the roots of the African shrub iboga and has been used for centuries in spiritual and healing ceremonies to help treat ailments, including addiction. (It is legal in certain countries but not in the U.S.)

“I was absolutely terrified, and I knew I would be again if I ever had to face something like this (helps to not go into the situations you do that get ya there but that’s life sometimes),” Presley’s post continued. He shared his “mantras” of “love yourself” and “the last time” before adding that “letting go of control didn’t come easy.”

“But I trusted there was something bigger than me guiding it. I knew why I was there. I faced what I had been running from, and somewhere in all of it, i started finding my way back to myself 🤍,” Presley wrote. “.... We shall see…. Praying it’s the last time I have to come back. Next time I’d like to choose 😜 🙏🏻 And absolutely can’t forget the incredible caring kind and on their s--- team. Helps a lot haha. And I made some dope ass friends there 🫂 #iboga #ibogaine #rewireyourbrain #loveyourself #mentalhealth.”

Presley’s family supported him in the comments section, praising his efforts to get better.

“You are a warrior! Walked thru the fire to find yourself! So proud! 🙏,” Crawford shared, with Kaia adding, “That’s my brother I am so damn proud.”

“Love you mama!!! 💜☮️,” Presley wrote to Crawford, adding to Kaia, “🦄🛸☮️💜 love you so much!”

His father Rande also supported him, writing, “I’m so proud of you and your courage. Facing what’s hard takes real strength and watching you find your way back to yourself is everything. I love you so much❤️.”

“Thank you pops learned it from you 🙏🏻,” Presley commented back.

The news of Presley’s death comes a month Kaia opened up about how her brother’s drug use and mental health struggles has impacted their family.

“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” the 25-year old *The Shards* star told *Vogue* in a profile published on Aug. 11, making a rare comment about her older brother.

“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything — and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” Kaia continued, referring to Presley’s now-deleted social media admission from December 2025, in which he shared his medication regimen.

He explained he was taking opiates, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, blood pressure medications, and ketamine drips, among others, and had seen 15 psychiatrists. “All these doctors say a lot of different things,” he shared, “so it’s kind of scary, but hopefully between my research and their research and God, we can figure this out.”

In her *Vogue* profile, Kaia added, “There’s only so much you can hide from the world. And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”

Following his death on Sunday, TMZ reported an autopsy has yet to be completed. Per records viewed by EW, an exam has been scheduled an an investigator has been assigned.

When reached for comment, a representative for the Crawford-Gerber family told EW, “The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time.”
