Prince Harry revealed that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have started eating Marmite on crumpets since moving to the U.K.
The Duke of Sussex said the kids previously “used to diss” him for keeping Marmite in the house — and that his earlier attempts to introduce them to beans on toast didn’t go over well
Harry and Meghan Markle moved back to the U.K. with Archie and Lilibet on Aug. 26 and are establishing a home in England
Prince Harry’s kids are embracing a very British breakfast staple after moving across the pond.
The Duke of Sussex, 42, revealed that Prince Archie, 7, and Princess Lilibet, 5, have developed a taste for Marmite — the famously divisive British yeast spread — on crumpets since the family relocated to the United Kingdom last month.
“Is that a British thing? Because it’s always been in my life, and now the kids are eating Marmite on crumpets, which is big for me,” Harry told HELLO! magazine at the WellChild Awards on Monday, Sept. 21.
“They do [approve], they do very much,” he continued. “I mean, they used to diss me for having Marmite in the house, and now they’re in the U.K. it’s like that’s kind of like water under the bridge, so it’s good.”

The newfound enthusiasm comes after Harry previously tried — with less success — to introduce his children to another British favorite while the family was living in California. His attempts to get Archie and Lilibet to enjoy beans on toast “hadn’t gone down very well,” he told the outlet.
Archie and Lilibet’s embrace of the British staple comes after Harry and Meghan Markle moved back to the U.K. with their children on Aug. 26.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will maintain their home in Montecito, California, while establishing a private, non-royal base in England, PEOPLE previously reported.

The move allows Meghan to continue leading As ever from England while giving Harry the opportunity to spend significantly more time supporting his U.K.-based charities and patronages.

On Sept. 21, Harry attended the WellChild Awards at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, where he presented the award for Inspirational Child, ages 4 to 6, and delivered a speech during the ceremony.
Harry is set to return to the United States later this week to attend Bill and Hillary Clinton’s Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting in New York City.
