- Quentin Tarantino will headline the new film *Tangled Up in Blue*.

- Kylie Minogue, Allison Williams, and RZA will star alongside the acclaimed filmmaker.

- Tarantino continues to delay returning behind the camera.

Quentin Tarantino will do anything to avoid finally directing his 10th and final film.

The celebrated filmmaker has long declared that the next movie he directs will be his last, but he clearly isn't ready for retirement, as it's been seven years since *Once Upon a Time in Hollywood*, and he seems to be no closer to rolling cameras one last time. Instead, he's doing everything else possible, between writing a *Once Upon a Time* sequel that David Fincher is directing and preparing a play for a West End premiere. And now comes his most ambitious swing yet: lead actor.

Tarantino is set to star in writer-director Jamie Adams' film *Tangled Up in Blue*, which is currently wrapping production in Cardiff, Wales. The Oscar winner will play Jake Stroud, who has spent 40 years managing legends, but, when stranded at a hotel bar between an old flame and a lost soul, Jake must finally manage the thing he's long avoided: his own heart.

Joining Tarantino in the eclectic ensemble are Kylie Minogue (*Moulin Rouge!*), Allison Williams (*Girls*), Jason Isaacs (*The White Lotus*), Sofia Boutella (*Rebel Moon*), and Tarantino's longtime collaborator RZA (*Nobody*), with the Wu-Tang Clan rapper playing himself.

Tarantino has been putting himself in his own movies since the start of his career. He memorably played Mr. Brown in *Reservoir Dogs* and Jimmie in *Pulp Fiction*, and his biggest role came in 1996's *From Dusk till Dawn*. Written by Tarantino and directed by his pal Robert Rodriguez, the action-horror film starred Tarantino and George Clooney as Richie and Seth Gecko, a pair of criminal brothers who go on the run from the law, only to be trapped in a saloon full of vampires.

After mostly stepping away from work in front of the camera, Tarantino is a supporting player in Adams' *Only What We Carry*, a drama that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival earlier this month.

Tarantino initially wrote *The Adventures of Cliff Booth* with the plan to direct, having already expanded the *Once Upon a Time* story in novel form. But he then decided against moving forward, and Brad Pitt was still keen on reprising his Oscar-winning role, leading him to bring Fincher in.

"I love this script, but I'm still walking down the same ground that I've already walked, and there's no questions," Tarantino previously explained. "There's no ceiling for me to hit the head of my talent on. And it just kind of unenthused me as we went forward. And so until I finally just pulled the plug."

Tarantino admitted that he does hear the talk that he's gotten in his own head when it comes to his work, the result of putting this self-imposed limit on how many films he will direct.

"It's a little crazy to like listen to podcasts and hear all these amateur psychiatrists psychoanalyze as if they f---ing know what they're talking about, about what's going on with me, about how I'm so scared of my 10th film," Tarantino said. "How I'm living in terror and fear and I f---ed myself royally, and now I don't know what to do. Trust me, I'm not paralyzed with fear, all right?"

Over the last few months, Tarantino has made headlines for ripping the state of cinema and actors Matthew Lillard and Paul Dano. So, with *Tangled Up in Blue*, he better turn in an incredible performance in a great movie, or he's really going to learn that revenge is a dish best served cold.
