Can Nikki Glaser just host everything? Between her delightful job at the Golden Globes last weekend and Chelsea Handler as the Critics Choice's effortless emcee the weekend prior, awards season is off to a banner start. Let's hope we can keep the momentum going through Conan at the Oscars in March. —*Patrick Gomez, Editor-in-Chief*

The sequel to *28 Years Later* sets the bar high for best movie scenes of 2026. Four words: Ralph Fiennes, Iron Maiden. The sequence, which you'll know as soon as you see it, is the clearest example of how director Nia DaCosta, after rebranding *Candyman*, applied her singular cinematic vision to this horror property. Alex Garland's story leans fully into the oddities of this world, and DaCosta takes full advantage with the visuals. Meanwhile, Jack O'Connell takes on another memorable genre role after *Sinners* and gives us early Halloween inspiration. (He also happens to be involved in this Iron Maiden moment.) —*Nick Romano, Senior Editor*

Riot Women

'Riot Women'

Helen Williams/Britbox

Throw your fists in the air for this endearing and emotional BritBox series from Sally Wainwright, following a group of women who form a punk band to "sing songs about being middle-aged, and menopausal, and more or less invisible." It hits all the right notes. —*Dalton Ross, Editorial Director*

David Byrne’s “Drivers License”

This cover of Olivia Rodrigo's 2021 hit is made for people who love both *Stop Making Sense* and *Sour*. Hearing Byrne's vocals as he sings, "I know we weren't perfect, but I've never felt this way for no one," is healing. —*Tiffany Kelly, Staff Editor*

Rosie Storey's debut novel, which touches on both delusion and desire, *almost* made me redownload Hinge "for the plot." Poppy pretends to be her dead sister on a dating app just for the thrill — she's in mourning! — until she falls in love. —*Morgan Sanguedolce, Video Producer*

Masquerade

I've never considered myself a *Phantom of the Opera* fan, but I'd see NYC's *Masquerade* 100 times over: Basically "*Phantom *meets* Sleep No More*," the musical is reimagined as a mind-blowing guided tour with Broadway stars performing less than an arm's distance away. —*P.G.*
