Rod Stewart has canceled the remaining dates of his “One Last Time” farewell tour amid ongoing health issues.
The “Maggie May” singer underwent a routine coronary stent procedure that requires a weeks-long recovery.
“Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities,” a representative for the singer said in a statement.

The Grammy-winning songbird behind hits like “Maggie May” and “You Wear It Well” has canceled the remaining dates of his ongoing farewell tour after undergoing heart surgery.
Stewart, 81, is currently recovering after having a routine coronary stent procedure done — done successfully, a representative for the musician added in a statement to PEOPLE on Tuesday. “Doctors are pleased with his recovery, and Rod is doing very well and has returned to his normal daily activities,” the statement read.

Entertainment Weekly has reached out to representatives for Stewart for comment.
“On the advice of his doctors, he will take the next four weeks to recuperate and regain full fitness before returning to the stage. Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates,” Stewart’s rep continued. Fortunately, the British hitmaker is “already feeling better and very much on the mend.”
Stewart himself shared a statement, saying, “I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me... I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon.”

While troubling, the announcement does at least shed light on a recent, abrupt scheduling shift in his “One Last Time Tour,” which was expected to end in Colorado in September. Just two days ago, Stewart postponed a concert at Cincinnati’s Riverbend Music Center due to “an unforeseen but minor medical procedure.”
The announcement also comes as the latest setback in a run of ill health for the singer.
Last June, he canceled four shows in Nevada and postponed two more in California after coming down with the flu. “So sorry, my friends. I’m devastated and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience to my fans. I’ll be back on stage and will see you soon,” he wrote on Instagram at the time.
Last month, Stewart halted his own performance at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre mid-song to breathe through an oxygen tank after nearly fainting. Stewart made light of the medical intervention after returning to the stage, and managed to complete the show.
