Rosario Dawson revealed that she was meant to appear in the latest Spider-Man movie.
During a 2026 GalaxyCon panel with Vincent D’Onofrio in Raleigh, N.C., the 47-year-old actress said she filmed a cameo for Spider-Man: Brand New Day but it “got cut out.”
When asked what superhero she would like to work with, she said, “Well, I’m gonna have to say I could have said Spider-Man. I even shot the scene in the new Spider-Man movie, but I got cut out.”

Dawson continued, “I told my mom, and she was like, ‘That sucks. Now I can’t post the pictures.’ And I was like, ‘Right, mom, me being been cut out of the movie that has like the largest viewership of a trailer ever and the issue is you can’t post your BTS photos.’”
The actress made her Marvel debut as nurse Claire Temple in the first season of Daredevil in 2015. She reprised the role in the television shows, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and The Defenders.
The Ahsoka star also shared that she has a special connection with Spider-Man as her uncle is a comic book artist and he was the first character he learned to draw.
“Spider-Man is really huge and people know that about me,” the actress said.
“There’s a frame in one of the new comics that has young Spider-Man talking to Daredevil, and they made it that the young Spider-Man goes to PS19 in the Lower East Side, which is where I went to elementary school. So when I tell you, my post was already ready with my BTS and my grandson wearing all this Spider-Man stuff because he loves Spider-Man. Then I got the email,” she continued.

However, Dawson expressed that there’s hope for the future of her character.
She said, “Because everybody’s in it, it still means that my character is somewhere in that same universe, and I really love that. So I hope I get to be Claire again.”

In 2022, Dawson told The Hollywood Reporter that she’d like to play Claire again.
“So, yeah, I’d be super curious, but I’m just so stoked for everybody, though. It’s been a long time coming. I was really excited to know that all of our shows are actually part of the MCU now, with Charlie [Cox] and Vincent [D’Onofrio] coming over into these different projects now. So, yeah, 18 episodes [of Daredevil: Born Again]? I’m there! Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, they know where I am.”
Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Tom Holland’s titular character as he returns to his superhero role “in a world that doesn’t remember him.” Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the box office hit also stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, and Mark Ruffalo.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is now in theaters.
