Guthrie continues to navigate her mother’s unresolved disappearance while supporting her children through the tragic situation
Savannah Guthrie is marking a special day for her firstborn.
The 54-year-old Today co-host rang in her daughter Vale’s 12th birthday with an Instagram tribute, honoring the day she was born with some sweet hospital photos.
“On this day, 12 years ago,” Guthrie wrote. “I will never forget this joy.”
Sharing photos of herself cradling baby Vale alongside her husband, Mike Feldman, Guthrie added, “Happy birthday to my dearest Vale, growing up so beautiful, kind, soulful and wise. ❤️ I thank God for you every day.”
In addition to her social media tribute, Guthrie also gave Vale an on-air shoutout during the Thursday, Aug. 13 broadcast of the NBC morning show. As weatherman Al Roker was celebrating the birthdays of the various guests on the Today Show Plaza, Guthrie ran in, announcing, “You know who else? My daughter, Vale! Happy birthday!”

Vale also got some love from her dad, Feldman, 57, who posted a sweet throwback photo of a young Vale giving him a kiss.
“Happy Birthday, Vale! 12 years old, a young lady now, but you will always be my little girl. ❤️🎈” Feldman wrote on his Instagram account.
The date also marked another birthday for a different Today show co-host’s daughter. Jenna Bush Hager revealed on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that her second daughter, Poppy, turned 11 today.

“Can I say, a little Happy Birthday to my queen Poppy Louise Hager?” Bush Hager announced at the top of the show. “She is 11. Leos are creatives. They’re fun to be with. I love a Leo. Happy Birthday and I love you, Poppy. You’re just the best little girl. Now I wanna cry!”
It’s been a year of highs and lows for Guthrie, who is also mom to son Charley, 9. On Feb. 1, her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz., home. Now, more than six months later, no suspects have been named in the case.
Savannah previously opened up to Hoda Kotb in an interview about how she and Feldman navigate the tragic situation with their kids.
“It’s so hard with kids, you know, because you want to protect them,” Savannah said of the case. “Vale would write me all the time, ‘Mama, any leads? You hear anything? Any hope?’ ”

Savannah added that she and Feldman “try to talk to” their kids about what’s going on, and said that their goal is to “try to give them a little more certainty than we have, to let them grieve.”
