The Golden State Warriors finished the 2025-26 NBA season with a 37-45 record, which was the 10th-best record in the Western Conference. After a play-in win over the Los Angeles Clippers, their season ended with a loss to the Phoenix Suns, so they never reached the playoffs.
With a new campaign around the corner, the Warriors were hoping for a clean slate. Instead, they got more bad news.
Warriors Forward Kristaps Porziņģis Receives Concerning Injury Update
The Warriors announced on September 28 that Kristaps Porziņģis has been ruled out indefinitely because of an undisclosed “health issue.”
General manager Mike Dunleavy confirmed that the 7’2″ center will not travel with the team to Hawaii for the opening practices and will also miss Golden State’s preseason matchup against the Clippers.
After this announcement, the NBA community had plenty of reactions.
Interestingly, most of the reactions were not about Porziņģis at all, as many were praying for Stephen Curry to stay healthy. The community made it clear that if Curry goes down, the Warriors are doomed. With Porziņģis, Jimmy Butler III, and Moses Moody out, the whole season rests on one 38-year-old.
“Smh, pray for 30,” said one influencer, whereas another one said, “And just like that the Warriors’ season is over.”
The Warriors are already entering camp without Butler, who continues to rehab a torn right ACL suffered in January 2026. Butler is not expected to return until well into the season, likely after December.

Golden State will also be without Moody for the time being. The guard is recovering from a ruptured left patellar tendon suffered in March 2026. One influencer pointed out how depleted the team looks.
“KP out, Jimmy out, Dray decline, Pods still mid at best, Moody gone, prayers smh,” they wrote.
Porziņģis’ availability was already a major question entering the new season. During the 2025-26 campaign, he played only 32 games, appearing in 17 games for the Atlanta Hawks before joining the Warriors and playing 15 games for Golden State.
His season was interrupted by multiple health issues, including left Achilles tendinitis that kept him out for an extended period in January and early February.

He was also diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), a condition that emerged after a prolonged upper respiratory viral illness during his time with the Boston Celtics in early 2025. One influencer directly suggested that the big man would never be the same.
“He will never be normal again, unfortunately; not his fault, but yeah,”they said.
With Porziņģis sidelined indefinitely, Butler recovering from ACL surgery, and Moody rehabbing his knee injury, the Warriors are facing another difficult challenge before the season has even officially started.
