Sharon Stone is experiencing "a lot of joy" thanks to a new family member.

The actress, 67, told PEOPLE on Jan. 13 that she recently adopted a puppy, whom she and her family have named Mo.

"We love our adorable new puppy. She's brought a lot of joy, cuddles & fun into our home," Stone said in a statement to PEOPLE about the adorable arrival.

Mo had the opportunity to meet Stone at the Astra Awards, an annual ceremony hosted by the Hollywood Creative Alliance that honors entertainment industry professionals. At this year's event, held on Jan. 9 in Los Angeles, Stone received the Timeless Award, one of the Astra Awards' honorary prizes.

On her way into the 2026 Astra Awards, the Basic Instinct star spotted Mo on the red carpet for the event. The 8-week-old pit bull mix puppy gained access to the glamorous award show through Petco Love, the awards' charitable partner.

For the fourth year in a row, Petco Love brought adoptable dogs from its Los Angeles shelter partner, The Lovejoy Foundation, to the Astra Awards to mingle with the who's who of Hollywood and hopefully find homes.

Mo arrived at the awards with The Lovejoy Foundation and two of her siblings, who survived a "dire situation" before their rescue, according to Petco Love.

The organization added that Stone spied Mo on the red carpet, posed for a few photos with the pup, and then decided the dog would be the perfect pet for her youngest son, Quinn. The actress had a video call with her son at the awards show to confirm that he wanted the pup to join the family. After getting Quinn's okay, Stone told the Lovejoy Foundation she was all in on bringing Mo home.

"She's going to have a great life because she's going to be my youngest son's dog. And my youngest son is absolutely thrilled about it," Stone told Petco Love.

Stone's decision to adopt will significantly improve Mo's life, and the star is confident that Mo will change her and Quinn's lives as well.

"I think that dogs and kids go together like peanut butter and jelly," she added. "I think it's a good responsibility, and I think it's a good character building for kids, and it's really healthy for kids and for families to have pets."
