“Summer House” Star Lindsay Hubbard Says She Was 'Almost' Paula Abdul’s Niece

Lindsay Hubbard reveals why Paula Abdul refers to her as an "almost niece"

During the June 16 episode of More Life with Carl Radke, Hubbard revealed she used to date Abdul's nephew and would see the former Lakers Girl "every day for months"

"[It was] to the point where even to this day, she's like, 'Lindsay was almost my niece,' " the reality star said

Lindsay Hubbard revealed that she and Paula Abdul could have been family.

During the June 16 episode of the More Life with Carl Radke podcast, the reality star, 39, told host Carl Radke, who is also Hubbard's ex and Summer House costar, the reason why Abdul refers to her as an "almost niece."

Hubbard explained that when she first moved to Los Angeles, she was dating Abdul's nephew and, as a result, was with the former Lakers Girl "every day for months."

"[It was] to the point where even to this day, she's like, 'Lindsay was almost my niece.' And I was like, 'No, I wasn't,'" she said. Radke, 41, confirmed, saying, "We ran into her, and she said that again."

Radke noted that when they bumped into her "somewhere a couple of years ago," Abdul said the same thing. "I'm like, 'Paula! I thought you were joking,'" he said. "I was like, 'There's no way you… Oh no, that's not a joke.'"

"You were dead serious," Radke said. "And I'm like, 'Wait, you actually were almost?' And you're like, 'Yes!'"

The new episode of More Life is a major step forward for Hubbard and Radke, whose relationship had been strained after they called off their year-long engagement in September 2023.

At the beginning of their conversation, Radke expressed that he was nervous to speak with Hubbard after she reached out to him for the interview. "[They were] good nerves," he said. "I was excited that you wanted to come in."

The duo officially made amends when they followed each other back on Instagram during the episode. "We're back baby!" Radke said.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Hubbard explained that the controversy of Amanda Batula and West Wilson's relationship brought them closer together.

"I think we had to go on the journey that we did," Hubbard said. "I also think that this scandal within our cast, without having a full conversation between you, me and Kyle [Cooke], we almost instinctively banded together to protect our house."

"The relationship we have now and the friendship we have now, it's been really nice," Radke shared. "Even just watching back season 10, and obviously it's very interesting watching back over the last two months, but the bright spot for me this past summer is watching us in some of the dynamic."

As they reminisced on their friendship and time on Summer House, they shared kind words.

"You were always someone that really did support me and really show up for me," Radke said. "You knew the real me." To which Hubbard said, "You have amazing qualities in a human, and I think you've just gotten better and better."

"Although it might not have looked like that at times, I think there is a mutual respect," Hubbard continued. "We also share a very similar sense of humor, and we can understand each other's languages. And it wasn't always easy, whether it was us being friends, whether it was you during your darker times or us in a relationship. But we still had a mutual love and respect for each other that I think still holds true."
