- Filming is underway on season 3 of *The Pitt*.

- The new episodes of the HBO Max series will be set in November.

- Cast member Supriya Ganesh won't be returning.

The next shift has begun.

On Tuesday, filming officially started on season 3 of *The Pitt*. The news was announced in a video on the HBO Max social feeds, in which the ID badges of the main characters were shown, including Dr. Parker Ellis, played by new series regular Ayesha Harris, who previously recurred as a member of the night-shift team.

Set for release in early 2027, the third season will take place on a day in November, just a few months after season 2 was set on the Fourth of July.

"I think the season 3 mantra is 'Physician, heal thyself,'" showrunner R. Scott Gemmill previously told **. "I'm hoping that Robby [Noah Wyle] is smart enough and courageous enough to take the advice that he's always giving to others."

The returning cast includes Wyle, Harris, Sepidah Moafi, Katherine LaNasa, Fiona Dourif, Patrick Ball, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez, Taylor Dearden, and Shawn Hatosy. Moafi has already revealed that she will be absent from the season premiere, while Azeez shared that her character, Victoria Javadi, will no longer be a part of the regular ER rotation, having graduated to psychiatry rotation.

Both Moafi and Azeez will still have a presence on the show, but that won't be the case for Supriya Ganesh, who played fan favorite Dr. Samira Mohan. Ahead of the end of season 2, news broke that Ganesh would not be continuing on as Mohan.

"That was something that was just always spoken about when we were filming, just that there's characters that are gonna come and go," Ganesh recently told EW of the nature of the show. "Noah would joke around and laugh and go like, 'Who am I gonna get rid of this season?' as a joke, so it just was very much something that was just part of how they structured the show."

She continued, "I think the idea of living in a day is super helpful because eventually the character doesn't know what's gonna happen to her or the show really also at times doesn't really know what's gonna happen to her at any point. I think it's just, like, you have to live within the context of a day."
