Zoe Saldaña ‘can’t imagine’ doing another Taylor Sheridan show: ‘I think I’m good’

Zoe Saldaña isn’t interested in appearing in another Taylor Sheridan show outside of Lioness.

The actress says the spy thriller, which recently completed its third season, keeps her busy on its own.

“I think I’m good here at Lioness,” she said.

This lioness isn’t afraid to set boundaries.

Zoe Saldaña, 48, has revealed that she isn’t interested in making the leap to another one of Taylor Sheridan’s hit television series, because she already has plenty on her plate playing Joe on Lioness.

“I think that Joe McNamara and Lioness is all that I can handle at this time,” Saldaña told Entertainment Weekly’s sister publication, PEOPLE.

“I’m number one on the call sheet. I am first one in, last one out. I am prepping months before anybody ever is able to prep. So it’s already a lot of work for me,” she continued. “I can’t imagine me taking on more of a Taylor Sheridan world.”

And, to be fair, Lioness keeps Saldaña very busy on its own. The Oscar-winning actress pulls double duty on the Paramount+ spy thriller, portraying Joe onscreen as well as serving as an executive producer for the last three seasons.

In doing so, Saldaña says that she’s shown Sheridan, 56, what she’s capable of as an artist and collaborator.

“The good takeaway that I’m grateful for is that he knows that I’m reliable, just like Joe is,” she says, noting that the Yellowstone creator is well aware that she’s “honest,” “tough as nails,” and “vocal and opinionated” about projects.

“I have my views, and I come with all heart, all brains, all muscle at all times,” she continued. “So, no, I think I’m good here at Lioness.”

It’s not uncommon for stars in the Taylor Sheridan universe to hop between shows. In fact, it was recently announced that Saldaña’s Lioness costar, Michael Kelly, has joined the cast of Landman season 3.

But Saldaña was quick to note that Kelly will be receiving orders to return to Lioness ASAP if they’re greenlit for another season.

“Michael can’t be going there and doing more work,” she teased. “If we do come back for season 4, we have him first.”

Saldaña added that she can’t envision anyone but Kelly playing his character, Byron Westfield.

“He’s excellent as [Byron] Westfield, and he’s such a talented actor, and I really enjoy sharing screen time with him,” she said. “I learn so much from Michael.”
